PART ONE – IMPACT AND DEFINITIONS
09:30 We look at three scenarios that provide different perspectives of Domestic Violence. The impact of family violence on a child’s well being. Includes what to do with an incident of significant harm; local child protection procedures. The impact of witnessing Domestic Violence.

PART TWO – ASSESSMENT
11:20 MORE OF A FATHER
Steve has just returned from prison. He thinks Lynne's kids have been 'running
riot'. There will have to be some changes. The workshop examines emotional
violence and the effect on children. A brief look at the EVERY CHILD MATTERS
protocols.
Groups will have the opportunity to interview and assess the perpetrator of the oppressive behaviour. Can Steve’s behaviour be modified or improved? Includes family violence and emotional abuse; alcohol and family violence; providing a framework for assessment – the Common Assessment Framework and the need for early intervention and support to prevent risk situations; the role of the Lead Professional.

PART THREE - A SHARED APPROACH
13:45 A number of scenarios that highlight the need for multi-agency working (includes the award winning CROSSFIRE – EDINBURGH FESTIVAL 2005). Working in partnership– the role of professionals from partner agencies and working together to safeguard children and young people; information sharing; confidentiality; listening to the child; support services. What services are available locally? e.g. Sure Start. Services that work with perpetrators; the role of the Lead Professional; domestic violence forums and partnerships; community accountability.
