Scenarios and workshops will examine the barriers to effective communication and collaboration. Includes confidentiality, agency cultures and working with ‘partner agencies’.

Pina is the main carer for baby Carl. Her mother has schizophrenia and her father lives abroad. Are the agencies sufficiently aware of the situation in the home – do they know about Pina’s secret ambitions?

11:50 PINA ALONE
The module offers a unique ‘Forum Theatre’ workshop where delegates work with Pina [the main carer] in an atmosphere of engagement, openness and consent, to offer support and implement strategies for best outcomes. Assessment Framework; Common Assessment Framework; Child Protection Plans; Core Groups.

PART TWO - BUILDING BRIDGES

14:00 CHILDREN, MENTAL HEALTH AND THE COMMUNITY.
A series of scenarios and workshops that encourage professionals from different agencies and organisations to work together in new structures to better meet the needs of children, young people and their families. Includes the value of early intervention: effective communication with ward staff and GPs, drug agencies, non-statutory support services; the role of the lead professional. What to do with an incident of significant harm.

15:00 WORKING TEA BREAK / RECOMMENDATION AND FEEDBACK
Delegates will be asked throughout the day to jot down recommendations for effective working together locally. We share some of these.
